Removing Canopy Shield from Windows or Mac When Using an Accountability Partner

Removing Canopy Shield from a device that is protected under an Accountability Partner, must be approved by the ally. 

This is a built-in protection designed to prevent unauthorized removal.

To send request for removal follow this Step-by-Step Process:

  1. On your protected computer, locate the Canopy icon

    • macOS: Top-right menu bar

    • Windows: System tray (bottom-right)

  2. Click the Canopy icon to open the menu.

  3. Select Uninstall.

  4. When prompted, click Send Request.
    This sends a removal request to your Ally.

Ally Response

Your Ally will receive the request and can choose to approve or deny it.

If the Ally Approves, Removal Prevention is disabled for this computer.

To complete the removal:

  1. Click the Canopy icon again.

  2. Select Uninstall once more.

  3. Canopy Shield will now uninstall successfully.

If the Ally Denies

  • Removal Prevention remains active.

  • Canopy cannot be removed.

  • You will receive a notification that the request was declined.

  • If There Is No Response or Removal Is Still Required

    If your Ally does not respond, or if removal is required regardless of the response, please contact Canopy Support.

    Support can review the situation and assist responsibly when needed.

    Important Notes

    • Approval only allows removal — it does not uninstall the app automatically.

    • Removing Canopy from your computer does not cancel your subscription.

    • Subscription changes must be managed separately through your account.
