How to Turn Off Removal Prevention on iPhone / iPad

On iPhone and iPad, Removal Prevention works differently than on other devices.

Because it is enforced at the system level (by Apple), it cannot be turned off with a simple switch in the Dashboard.

Why is this the case?

Removal Prevention on iOS is part of a secure system configuration (often called supervision).
This ensures the protection cannot be easily bypassed.

How to Turn Off Removal Prevention

To disable Removal Prevention, you’ll need to send a removal request directly from the protected device.

Step 1: Start the removal request

On the iPhone or iPad with Canopy Shield installed:

  1. Open the app
  2. Open the side menu
  3. Tap “Remove Canopy”

Step 2: Approve the request

  • A request will be sent to your management account (Dashboard or parent app)
  • The request must be approved before the change takes effect

Step 3: After approval

Once approved:

  • Removal Prevention will be automatically turned off
  • The device will no longer be protected by Removal Prevention
  • You will be able to remove the app from the device

Want to Enable Removal Prevention Again?

If you disable Removal Prevention using this method and later want to turn it back on:
