How Does Down Time Work?

Down Time lets you schedule recurring breaks from internet access on the protected device. It’s perfect for creating screen-free times—like bedtime, family meals, or homework hours.

During Down Time:

  • Internet access is blocked on the protected device.

  • On Android, non-essential apps are also blocked.

  • Essential features like phone calls and SMS will still work.

How to Set Up Down Time

You can configure Down Time from either the Canopy app or the Canopy Dashboard on your computer:

  1. Open Canopy and go to your Dashboard.

  2. Select the child’s device profile you want to set a break for.

  3. Under the protection status, tap Show more.

  4. Choose Down Time.

  5. Tap Add Down Time to create a new break, or Edit an existing one.

You’ll need to:

  • Give the break a name (like “Bedtime” or “Dinner Time”)

  • Choose the days of the week

  • Set the start and end time

Need to remove it? Just tap Delete inside the edit screen.
