Step 1: Download Canopy Shield

1. Send an installation link via Canopy Dashboard or the Canopy parental control app and open the link on the device.
2. Alternative methods: Download Canopy Shield from Google Play Store or open a browser on the Android device you want to protect and go to canopy.us/install.

Step 2: Install the App

3. Read and agree to the privacy disclaimers.
4. When prompted, Select Protect this device.

Step 3: Log In & Assign Device

5. Tap I have an account.
6. Log in with your admin email and password.
7. Select the profile of the Shield user for this device.

Step 4: Grant Necessary Permissions

8. Tap Continue with installation and accept the Terms & Conditions.
9. Follow the setup prompts based on your Android version:
   • Android 14+: Enable Overlay Access first.
   • Android 13+: If Accessibility is restricted, allow Restricted Settings first, then enable Accessibility.
   • Older versions: Go directly to Accessibility Settings → Find Canopy Shield → Enable it.
10. Approve Usage Data Access and return to the setup screen.

Step 5: Enable Security Features

11. Install the Security Certificate:
    • When prompted, allow the Security certificate installation.
      
    • Android 15+:  Tap More Security Settings → Install from device storage → CA certificates → Install anyway → Download. Tap myca.crt in the file manager to install the certificate.
12. Enable Uninstall Protection (optional).

Step 6: Complete Installation

13. Approve final permissions → Tap Open App.
    ✅ Setup complete! You should see a key icon in the status bar, confirming Canopy Shield is active.
