To set up Removal Prevention on iOS using a Mac, please watch this video or follow the steps below:
Step 1 - Download and run the Removal Prevention setup file
Download the Removal Prevention setup file from this link. The file named Canopy_Removal_Prevention.dmg with the Canopy icon will appear in your computer's Downloads folder.
Click the Show Downloads button near the top-right corner of the Safari window, then double-click on the Removal Prevention installation file.
A dialog box will appear with the Canopy icon . Double click the icon.
When prompted, click Open.
Step 2 - Connect your iOS device to your Mac
Connect your iOS device to your Mac with a USB cable.
Press Trust when the notification appears. If the Trust notification does not appear, you may have already trusted this Mac in the past.
Click the Start button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Step 3 - Backup your device using Finder
Open Finder on your Mac.
Select your device from the Finder sidebar.
Select General in the button bar.
Click Back Up Now (below Backups)
Click the Next button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Step 4 - Disable your Passcode
Open Settings on your
iOS device.
Tap Face ID & Passcode or Touch ID & Passcode
Enter your existing Passcode.
Turn Passcode Off. You’ll be able to reactivate the passcode when Removal Prevention setup is complete.
Click the Next button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Step 5 - Disable "Find My iPhone"
Go back to Settings on your iOS device.
Tap your Apple ID name.
Tap Find My
Tap Find my iPhone, then tap again to turn it off.
Enter your Apple ID password, then tap Turn Off. You’ll be able to reactivate the passcode when Removal Prevention setup is complete.
Click the Next button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Step 6 - Grant Full Disk Access
Click the Next button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
The Security & Privacy window will open. Click the small lock icon in the lower-left corner to be able to make changes.
Enter your Mac administrator password, then click Unlock.
Check the box next to Canopy_Removal_Prevention.
When prompted, click Later then close the Security & Privacy window.
Click the Next button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Your device will now automatically restart and Canopy will begin automatically setting up Removal Prevention. Important! Do not disconnect the device from the computer until the setup completes.
Step 7 - Enable Remote Management
When your device has finished restarting, tap Continue.
Tap Apply configuration.
Tap Next.
Wait until the iPhone or iPad switches to the home screen, and then click the Finish button on your Mac. Important! Do not click Finish until this has happened.
Step 8 - Complete the installation
Click the OK button on the installation setup screen on your Mac.
Congratulations! Removal Prevention is now enabled.
