How to Pause Canopy Protection

Canopy allows account managers to temporarily pause protection on a device when needed.

Pausing protection disables filtering and protection features for the selected period of time. Once the selected time expires, protection automatically resumes.

How to Pause Protection

From the Canopy Dashboard

  1. Log in to your Canopy Dashboard.

  2. Select the device you want to manage.

  3. On the device overview page, locate the Protection toggle near the top of the screen.

  4. Turn Protection off.

A window will appear asking how long you would like to pause protection.

Available Pause Durations

You can choose:

  • 5 minutes

  • 15 minutes

  • 1 hour

  • 3 hours

  • 12 hours

  • 24 hours

  • Indefinitely

Select the desired duration and click OK.

Protection will remain paused for the selected period.

Turning Protection Back On

You do not need to wait for the timer to expire.

At any time:

  1. Return to the device overview page.

  2. Turn the Protection toggle back on.

Protection will immediately resume.

Important Notes

  • Pausing protection temporarily disables content filtering for the selected device.

  • If a timed pause is selected, protection will automatically resume when the timer expires.

  • Choosing Indefinitely keeps protection paused until it is manually turned back on.

  • Only users with management permissions can pause or resume protection.

Need Help?

If you cannot find the Protection toggle or are unable to pause protection, verify that you are logged in with a management account and that you have permission to manage the selected device.
