What Is an Accountability Partner in Canopy?

An Accountability Partner is someone you choose, such as a spouse, family member, or close friend, who agrees to support you in staying safe and consistent with your online protection.
This feature is included in both Adult bundles and is one of the main differences from family plans.

The Role of an Accountability Partner

  • An Accountability Partner does not set filters or manage your account.

  • Their role is simple and supportive:

    • They receive requests whenever you want to make certain changes.

    • They approve or deny those requests.

This way, you stay in control of your browsing, while having a trusted partner to help keep you accountable.

How to Get Started

  1. Open your Canopy Dashboard or the Canopy app.

  2. On the main page, click the Send Invite button located at the top.

  3. Enter the email address of the person you want to be your partner.
  4. They will receive an email invitation with the option to Accept or Deny.

  • If they accept, they officially become your Accountability Partner.

  • From that moment on, all your requests will be sent directly to them via email for approval.

How It Works (Step by Step)

Once the partnership is set up:

  • Whenever you send a request (for example, to access a blocked app or website), your partner will:

    1. Receive an email with a secure link.

    2. Tap or click the link to approve or deny the request.

That’s it! No password, no login, no dashboard, and no management app required.

Important to Know

  • You are responsible for choosing your own Accountability Partner.

  • They should be someone you trust and who is willing to support you.

  • Partners can be a spouse, parent, sibling, close friend, or mentor — whoever you feel comfortable with.

Being an Accountability Partner in Canopy is easy, quick, and secure — just a few taps, no extra setup.
