Some Wi-Fi networks, such as school or workplace connections, may block or limit Canopy’s ability to filter content. This can cause browsing issues or prevent filtering from being active.
To solve this, Canopy allows you to manage filtering per Wi-Fi network and exclude problematic networks.
You’ll see a network issue detected notification if:
Internet works, but Canopy servers cannot be reached.
Filtering is not working normally.
This network hasn’t already shown 3 notifications today.
You didn’t select “Don’t ask me again on this network.”

Clicking the notification shows:

Manage Wi-Fi Filtering
Continuing without full filtering requires administrator approval.
You may check “Don’t ask me again on this network.”
Each network is shown as Filtered or Unfiltered.
The toggle reflects real status:
Filtered → Toggle ON
Unfiltered → Toggle OFF
Turning filtering OFF requires:
Admin password
Confirmation popup
Problematic Wi-Fi networks are highlighted for easier troubleshooting.
Important: Canopy needs Location Services enabled to access Wi-Fi details.
If permissions are off, you’ll be prompted to turn them on.
Enable both Location Services and permission for apps & desktop apps to access location.
Access Manage Wi-Fi Filtering from:
The network issue notification.
Anytime through the Canopy app:
App home screen (often in the hidden tray) →Right click Canopy logo → Troubleshoot Wi-Fi Networks
